Thumbprint Cookies
This classic butter cookie is always a fun recipe to make with your kids.

Ingredients:
¾ cup butter
½ cup white sugar
2 egg yolks
1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup fruit preserves, any flavor
Glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar, 
           2 –3 teaspoons water

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  2. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, sugar and egg yolks.

  3. Mix in the flour a little bit at a time until soft dough forms.

  4. Roll dough into 1-inch balls.  If dough is too soft, refrigerate for

  5.  15 – 20 minutes.

  6. Place dough 2 inches apart onto un greased cookie sheets.

  7. Use your thumb to make a well in the center of each cookie.  Fill the hole with ½ teaspoon of preserves.

  8. Bake for 8 – 10 minutes until golden brown on the bottom.

  9. Transfer to wire racks and leave to cool.

  10. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, stir the glaze ingredients with a wire whisk until smooth.

  11. Spoon the glaze into a small ziplock plastic bag, snip off a small corner and use as a piping bag to
    drizzle over cookies.
