Spaghetti "Pizza" Pie
The pasta forms a crust in this delicious
pie, it's a different way to serve spaghetti and meat sauce.
Vegetarians may substitute ricotta cheese and spinach for the meat.
(Serves 6 - 8)Ingredients:
Crust:
6 ounces spaghetti, cooked to package instructions
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
2 eggs, beaten
Filling:
1 tablespoon olive oil
8 ounces ground turkey/beef
1 small onion, peeled and finely diced
1 clove garlic, minced
2 cups marinara or spaghetti sauce
salt and pepper to taste
1/3 cup grated mozzarella cheese
Pepperoni or tomato slices for topping
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Prepare crust: Grease
oven proof baking dish with non stick spray.
- In a large bowl, toss spaghetti, parmesan
cheese and beaten eggs until well mixed.
- Pour into baking dish and press firmly into
the bottom and up the sides to form the "crust" of the pie.
- Prepare filling: Heat olive oil
in medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the ground turkey, onion and garlic and
cook until the meat turns white and slightly browned.
- Add the marinara or spaghetti sauce and cook
covered for a further 5 minutes. Season to taste.
- Spoon meat sauce over spaghetti crust and
sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
- Top with pepperoni or tomato slices.
- Bake for 15 minutes until cheese if golden
brown.
- Allow to sit for 5 minutes before serving.
Cut into wedges and serve.
