Snickerdoodles
These delicious cinnamon sugar cookies have crisp edges and chewy centers.
(Makes 24)

Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-1/3 cups and 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, shortening, 3/4 cup sugar, the egg and vanilla until
    soft and creamy.
  3. Sift the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt into a bowl and stir into the butter mixture until it
    forms a big ball.
  4. Take a teaspoon full of cookie dough and using the palm of your hands, roll  into balls. 
    Set aside on a large plate.
  5. Mix the 1 tablespoon sugar and the cinnamon in a small bowl.
  6. Roll balls of dough in mixture and place 2 inches apart on un greased baking sheets.
  7. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until set but not too crisp. Remove immediately from baking sheets onto
    wire rack to cool.
