Poached Pears with Chocolate Sauce
(Makes 8)

Ingredients:
1 cup pear nectar or apple juice
1 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
4 slightly under-ripe pears, peeled, halved, cored
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Stir pear nectar, water and sugar in heavy large saucepan over medium-high heat until sugar dissolves
    and syrup comes to boil.
  2. Add pears to syrup in saucepan. Cover pan, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until pears are
    tender, about 8 minutes.
  3. Using slotted spoon, transfer pears to plate. Increase heat to medium-high and boil poaching liquid until reduced to 3/4 cup, about 8 minutes. Remove pan from heat.
  4. Add chocolate; whisk until chocolate melts and sauce is smooth.
  5. Place 1 warm pear half, cut side up, on each plate and top with warm chocolate sauce.
Serve with ice cream if desired.
