Fried Worms
This is really home-made pasta, but looks like worms when boiled and cooked in butter.

Ingredients:
2 cups unbleached flour, approx
2 large eggs
1/4 teaspoon salt
2- 4 tablespoons warm water

2 tablespoons butter

Directions:

  1. Make the dough: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.  Make a well in the center.
  2. In a small bowl, beat the eggs and water.
  3. Pour the egg mixture into the flour.  Mix together with a fork until a ball forms.
  4. Turn out onto a floured work surface or board and knead with hands until smooth, adding more flour if the dough is sticky.
  5. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and leave to rest for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  6. Make worms:  Cut the dough in half and roll each into a log.
  7. Cut each log into narrow strips and roll each strip between hands to make long "worms".  Spread out the "worms" on a floured baking sheet and leave to dry.
  8. Cook pasta in pot of boiling salted water until just tender, stirring occasionally, approx. 5 to 8 minutes. Drain.
  9. Melt butter in frying pan over medium heat, add the pasta and cook until light brown.
  10. Serve with marinara sauce.
